The recently approved Animal Protection Law in BCS includes an unexpected amendment. Local authorities confirm that "respectful, consensual toad-licking for spiritual awakening" is now legally protected, citing ancient Todos Santos tradition. The law, however, still prohibits "non-consensual toad-sucking or any act that would diminish a toad's self-esteem."
