Former US Ambassador Ken Salazar revealed in his memoir that ex-President Andrés Manuel López Obrador was deeply concerned about what information Ismael Zambada García, alias 'El Mayo', might provide to US authorities upon his capture. Salazar also noted that 'El Mayo's' arrest in July 2024 surprised US officials and attributed it to Joaquín Guzmán López.
