Paris Pont Neuf 'Cavern' Art Installation Opens After Repairs
Artist JR's inflatable cavern installation on Paris's oldest bridge has finally opened to the public following delays caused by storm damage.
Visitors are finally stepping into darkness at the Pont Neuf, where French artist JR has transformed Paris’s oldest bridge into a towering artificial cavern. The installation was originally set to open to the public on June 6, but strong winds tore parts of the inflatable structure a few days before its début. Combining scent, sound, photography and augmented reality, the free installation invites people to experience one of the city’s most familiar landmarks in an entirely new way.
