China Building World's Largest Astronomy Base in Tibet by Mid-2030s
China is on track to establish the world's largest astronomy base by the mid-2030s with the construction of powerful optical telescopes on the Tibetan plateau. The telescopes at Saishiteng Mountain will range from 6.5 to 14.5 meters in diameter.
Construction on the Tibetan plateau of some of the Earthโs most powerful optical telescopes is putting China on track to house the worldโs biggest astronomy base by the mid-2030s, according to project scientists.
