Cambodia Initiates UN Process to Resolve Maritime Dispute with Thailand
Cambodia has begun UN-mediated proceedings to settle a maritime dispute with Thailand, following the cancellation of a prior bilateral energy exploration agreement. The move aims to find a resolution under international maritime law.
The move by Cambodia to begin the mediation process under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, followed Thailandโs cancellation last month of a 2001 bilateral agreement on overlapping maritime claims and energy exploration.
