Palestinians Commemorate Nakba as Israelis Celebrate East Jerusalem Capture
Palestinians marked the Nakba, remembering their 1948 exodus, while Israelis celebrated the 1967 capture of East Jerusalem. These clashing historical narratives highlight the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
On May 15, Palestinians commemorated the Nakba ("catastrophe" in Arabic), referring to the forced exodus of Palestinians during the creation of the State of Israel in 1948. One land, two historical narratives. Is it still possible to reconcile them? FRANCE 24's Claire Duhamel and Amira Souilem report.
