Iran Establishes Strait Authority, US Open to Sanctions Relief
Iran has created the Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PSGA) to control maritime transit, requiring ships to obtain confirmation of regulations. This move coincides with indications that the US may be open to sanctions relief.
On May 17, Iran unveiled a new body, the Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PSGA), to control the Strait; according to the new mechanism, all ships seeking to transit the Strait should get a confirmation message, about “ruled and regulations” from the PGSA.
