Myanmar Junta Claims Recapture of Key Trade Route Towards China
Myanmar's military junta asserts it has regained control of a vital trade route connecting Mandalay to Myitkyina, near the Chinese border. The junta claims to have eliminated 'terrorist insurgent groups' in the area.
The military said it crushed "terrorist insurgent groups" along a route linking the central and second largest city of Mandalay to the northern hub of Myitkyina, about 50 kilometres (31 miles) from China's border.
