Governor Rubén Rocha Moya of Sinaloa has taken a 30-day leave of absence following U.S. government accusations linking him to organized crime. Despite his temporary departure, the Sinaloa Constitution confirms he retains his constitutional immunity, a protection against arrest or prosecution for public officials. Yeraldine Bonilla Valverde has been approved as the interim governor during his absence.
