Banamex Issues Dollar Bonds Post-Citi Divestment
Grupo Financiero Banamex has launched its first international dollar bond offering since Citigroup began divesting its stake in the Mexican bank. The bonds, maturing in 2036 with a five-year call option, are being priced around 7 percent. This move positions Banamex to regain market share as a national player, despite Moody's warning of a potential downgrade on subordinate debt due to reduced Citi support.
