Mali Faces Very High Risk of Coup Amid Jihadist Insurgency
An analyst warns that Mali is facing a high risk of a new coup d'etat. The report notes that jihadist groups and Tuareg rebels currently hold the initiative against the Malian government.
Speaking with FRANCE 24's Mark Owen, Michael Shurkin, Director of Global Programmes at 14 North Strategies, says that Mali faces a very high risk of a new coup d'Γ©tat, adding that the jihadist group JNIM and the Tuareg rebels of the FLA "clearly have the initiative and the Malian government is on the backfoot".
