Latin American bank targets Uruguay with HSBC unit acquisition
Brazilian investment bank BTG Pactual plans to use Uruguay as a regional hub after acquiring HSBC Uruguay for $175 million. The group is currently awaiting approval from Uruguay's Central Bank to begin operations in the local market.
