China has upgraded its ageing main battle tanks with an active protection system to counter drone attacks and anti-tank missiles, according to state media. The upgrade is in response to a potential Taiwan operation. The GL-6 APS system has been installed on Type 96A tanks belonging to the PLA's Eastern Theatre Command.
