French President Emmanuel Macron said on Wednesday that he shared Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's position on the need to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, speaking alongside her in Tokyo. The US–Israeli war with Iran has rattled global markets and effectively shut the Strait of Hormuz, a conduit for a fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas flows.
