The US State Department has reestablished diplomatic ties with Venezuela after a seven-year absence, amid the country's tumultuous political landscape.

The State Department said it had formally reopened its embassy in Caracas after seven years. The US seized President Nicolas Maduro in a military raid in January and has since reestablished diplomatic ties.
