The French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety has called on the government to lower cadmium levels in food due to alarming increases in the past decade. Cadmium levels are two to three times higher in France compared to other EU nations, with nearly 47% of people having dangerous quantities in their bodies.
