The Mexican government has removed a diplomat from his post as consul general in Guadalajara after EU sanctions were imposed on him due to alleged ties to the CJNG cartel. The move comes after the US Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) linked a local business to a time-sharing scam linked to the CJNG. The diplomat, Martín Camarena de Obeso, was removed from his post without explanation, leaving behind a 23-year tenure.
