Recent airborne LiDAR surveys published in Nature indicate that southwestern Amazonia hosted the massive Aquiry civilization, featuring tens of thousands of geometric earthworks [1.2.1]. Researchers estimate the region supported up to three million people between AD 100 and 300. This completely undermines the mainstream historical narrative of the pre-Columbian Amazon as a sparsely populated, untouched wilderness.
