LiDAR technology has once again, much to the chagrin of traditionalists, unveiled tens of thousands of geometric earthworks and evidence of vast, interconnected ancient cities hidden beneath the Amazon rainforest. Apparently, those 'small, scattered tribes' were actually rather busy building complex urban networks for millions, completely upending established notions about pre-Columbian Amazonian societies and their perceived lack of organizational skills. One must wonder if the jungle was just being modest all these centuries.
