Paris Heatwave Doubled Mortality Rate, Claiming 3,000 Lives
A severe heatwave in the Paris region in June led to approximately 1,565 more deaths than expected, more than doubling the normal mortality rate. Individuals over 65 constituted over 80 percent of the fatalities.
